Travel May–October 2026 for the best experience.
Detailed Itinerary
Fly from your home city to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. Our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Evening orientation session covering the Kailash permit process, medical check-up advice, and altitude briefing. Welcome dinner at the hotel.
Morning visit to Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). Afternoon medical screening and fitness check for all pilgrims. Free time for shopping — warm woolens, medicines, altitude sickness tablets (Diamox), and oxygen gadgets available nearby.
Early morning drive to Syabrubesi (approx 6–7 hrs) through scenic Nepalese hills and river valleys. Check-in at local lodge; short acclimatization walk in the evening. Vegetarian dinner (no onion, no garlic — standard practice throughout the Yatra).
Cross the Rasuwagadhi/Timure border into Tibet. Meet the Chinese liaison officer and complete document verification. Drive to Kerung, a border town in Tibet. Check into your hotel and begin acclimatization. Oxygen monitoring and health checks conducted by our medical support team.
A long but spectacular drive across the Tibetan plateau to Saga (elevation ~4,600 m), covering rough mountain roads over 8–10 hours. The scenery is breathtaking — vast open plains, roaming yaks, and snow-capped peaks. Light rest on arrival; oxygen monitoring advised throughout the night.
Drive to the holy Mansarovar Lake (5–7 hrs, high-altitude terrain). Check-in at lakeside guesthouse or tented camp. Evening holy darshan at the lake — an immensely spiritual experience as the turquoise waters mirror the surrounding peaks. Short Parikrama of Mansarovar (1–2 km), evening prayers and rituals by the shore.
Drive to Darchen, the small town at the base of Mt. Kailash (~4,700 m). Check-in and meet local guides. Yak/horse/pony bookings finalized for the Parikrama if needed. Medical briefing: blood-oxygen levels, pulse check, and emergency protocol. Early rest in preparation for the Parikrama.
Begin the sacred Kailash Outer Parikrama (Kora). Trek from Darchen to Dirapuk (~14–16 km) with awe-inspiring views of the North Face of Mt. Kailash. Walking or on yak/horse as per fitness and preference. Arrive at Dirapuk guesthouse or tent camp. Prayers and meditation by the banks of the glacial stream.
The most challenging and spiritually rewarding day! Trek from Dirapuk over the sacred Dolma La Pass (5,600 m — highest point of the Yatra) and descend to Zuthulphuk, then back to Darchen (~18–20 km). Completing this full outer Kora is believed to wash away the sins of a lifetime. Medical team accompanies the group throughout.
Begin the return journey. En route, stop at Mansarovar Lake for a second darshan and a holy dip (for those who wish). Some packages include a short puja by the lake. Continue driving to Kerung or Saga for overnight rest. Celebratory dinner for completing the Parikrama.
Cross back into Nepal at the Rasuwagadhi border crossing. Drive to Syabrubesi for overnight rest. The descent to lower altitude brings immediate relief and improved oxygen levels. Medication top-up for any pilgrims who need it. Light comfortable dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Drive back to Kathmandu (approx 6–7 hrs). Freshen up at the hotel, evening free for last-minute shopping or sightseeing. Optional dinner at a local Nepalese restaurant to celebrate the completion of this once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage. Farewell gathering with fellow pilgrims.
Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight back to India. Return home carrying divine blessings from the roof of the world. The Yatra concludes, but the memories and spiritual experience remain for a lifetime. Our team will bid you a warm farewell.
